Over the past twelve years, Indian tribes working with the Corporation for National and Community Service have used their strengths and skills to educate children, provide job training for youth, assist elders, repair the environment, and get many valuable things done in their communities. They have taken the Corporation’s program models and resources, combined them with their own unique heritage and contributions, and used them as a strategy to build on and strengthen community action.
The Seventh National Conference on Service in Indian Communities will be an opportunity to showcase and build from these accomplishments. Participants will have the opportunity to share their service experiences, lessons and skills, learn about new resources, partners and opportunities, and explore service as a tool, a strategy, a way of life, and a tie that binds..
